No Time for Uppity

Normally, I'm not a fan of unpretentious crackers. You see, I'm a bit of a cracker snob. I like them all hoity-toity in their whole grain finery. But the saltine? Golly. They're just so darn good.

Time for lunch? Defrost some split pea soup from the freezer (thank you Easter ham-bone!), slice up a bit of cheddar-jack and whip out a sleeve of soda crackers. Yup. I love a little square of crispy niceness.

  2. One year teaching, I had my entire third grade class CONVINCED I was pregnant (I wasn't) because I had saltines on my desk. "You're having a baby, Mrs. C?" "No, honey, I'm not." "Yes, you are. You have THOSE crackers and my mom always eats those when she's going to have a baby. You might not know it, but you have a baby in your belly."

Oh, dear. :) The rumor traveled fast and they were bitterly disappointed. :) So funny.
